Be a part of history

Northeast Philadelphia History Network wants to document the COVID-19 epidemic with a specific focus on Northeast Philly.

Living through the COVID-19 epidemic is living through one of the defining moments of the century, said Northeast Philadelphia History Network historian Jack McCarthy. The organization wants you to be a part of that history.

NEPHN is looking for material submitted by Northeast Philadelphia residents to help document life during the virus outbreak with a specific focus on Northeast Philly. Once all material is collected, they will present it through a yet-to-be determined medium.

“This is an opportunity for the community to play a role in preserving an important moment in history,” McCarthy said.

Photos, videos, fliers, social media posts and anything else that’s relevant can all be submitted. For example, a video of customers remaining 6 feet apart while checking out at a grocery store, or a social media post about a canceled meeting from an organization.

Lee Weinstein submitted a picture of cars in line waiting to use the drive-through service at PNC, 6855 Frankford Ave., as service in the main lobby was closed.

“It’s a really historic moment and it’s important we do what we can to document it,” McCarthy said.

Send all submission to NEPHN.COVID19@gmail.com.
